Another Jessops thread
Discussion
Just thought I'd share a bit of feedback with you. Those who know me will proably be aware that I bought my first proper camera a few weeks back - a Canon 300D with Jessops price match and the £100 cashback.
I got it from the Southend on Sea store and was dealt with by Nina Munting, who was massively helpful and kept it all simple for me. I must admit that if she hadn't been so helpful and patient, I'd probably not have bought anything, and would still be mulling it over now.
I couldn't believe how quickly I became obsessed with taking photographs! Which made it even more of a blow when half way through the afternoon at the last VMax, the mirror stuck and the shutter wouldn't fire (thanks here to Luca for his help on the day).
I gave Nina a call, and it seemed that the camera was only just out of the 'replacement' period and normally would go for repair, but she said that if I got the camera back to her, rather than my nearest Jessops (working in Derby), she'd sort me out with a replacement.
A week later I got a call from her saying that she couldn't get her hands on a 300D anywhere, but not to worry, she'd definitely sort it out for me. I fully expected another call to say that nothing could be found and my camera would be going away for repair.
Anyway, the punchline - 3 weeks after my camera broke, Nina still hadn't found a 300D, and I went in to see her this weekend and collect my replacement - a 350D (at no extra cost)!!!
What brilliant customer service

I must say it is good to see isolated instances where Jessops seem to have returned to old customer service values.
I wonder if this is a shift in company policy or just individuals within company providing exceedingly good service.
I think it's unusual to see the customer really getting looked after in any store now, especially high street stores. That's why I thought this was worth a mention. And Nina's help has been so exceptional that I think it's worth knocking off early if I'm working in London and spending the extra £8-odd to hop on the train to Southend if I want to buy anything else.
Martin - you guessed right of course, I took about 70 yesterday afternoon, and I quite like a couple of them. Doubt you'd want to see the 23 I took of my dressing table last night while I was reading the manual though! lol
Edited to change what I'd written in to something nearer to what I meant to write, and in the hope that it now makes sense!!

I don't think the incidents of good service are isolated at all - two stores local to me have all been good and I personally know nobody who has had a bad experience with them.
In my case, they knocked £400 of the price of a lens for me, and when it broke two weeks later they did a straight swap - no questions asked. I could've broken it by dropping it or maybe I just fancied a brand new one. They didn't even CHECK to see if the one I took back was broken - they took my word for it and offered me my money back instantly. As it happened they had one in stock, so I got a brand new one on the spot.
I was mightily impressed, though I guess if nobody else they have to appease their customers who buy pro kit.

Thought I would ad to the praise of Jessops. I've bought two things now from the Bluewater shop...the first a Casio Exilim Z40 last summer....where they competitively price matched...and only 2 weeks ago a Sony Camcorder (forget the model number now, cost around £400) which they price matched from £500.
Excellent service on both occasions, and would well recommend.
