New Megane Cup 265 (ish)

I have had this for 3 weeks now but haven't actually managed to get around to taking any photos of it, so some dealer pics will have to do.
It's a 265 with an intake, full exhaust (with sports cat), and a stage 1 remap to 300bhp. Effectively it adds 35bhp over standard, so in normal mode it runs 285 and in sport it runs 300bhp. Sport mode does actually make a hell of a difference as well, couldn't quite believe it on the test drive.
I originally wanted a yellow one and this was over budget, but they don't come up very often at all let alone in this spec with sat nav, cruise, AND leather recaros, cup pack etc. It's usually one of the other, so I thought stuff it and bought it.
Coming from an EP3, the handling of the Megane is a completely different league. Roads that were a bit hairy in the Civic feel like the Megane isn't even trying, plus the comfort etc of the seats, everything about the car is absolutely fantastic so far*. With the mods on it as well, the pops, bangs, crackles, and general childish laugh inducing noises that it produces in sport mode are epic.
The redline being at 5250 ish rather than 8.5k is taking some getting used to, and if I'm honest the gearbox in the EP3 has a much nicer feel to it, but overall I'm very very happy!

- apart from the stereo which is the worst stereo I have every heard in any vehicle.

I’ll probably have one when the right one comes up, I like Sport yellow with non leather recaros and Xenons and that would tempt me away from the EP3 I think!
Yes it has Xenons, auto lights, wipers etc. Fantastic all round car really. More interesting than an S3 a well imo. I really like these and the EP3 is great as well (I owned 2 some years ago).
What’s the purpose of the sport button given it doesn’t really add any power? Does it sharpen throttle response or other stuff?
Also and slightly boringly any ideas what sort of fuel economy you get at 300bhp? I’m open minded about getting one of these cars and know I’d probably want around 350bhp.

Sport button gives the 265 an extra 15bhp over the 250. In normal mode it runs 250bhp. It also sharpens up the throttle response and loosens up the ESP.What’s the purpose of the sport button given it doesn’t really add any power? Does it sharpen throttle response or other stuff?

With this map and exhaust it also makes it sound like a rifle.

The best mode is holding down the button till it beeps at you as that's everything off

They really are fantastic cars. Agree with you on the stereo though... I took the lazy route and bought a pair of noice cancelling headphones but still thinking about upgrading the stereo properly.
A lot of people seem to run an active sub under one of the seats and then set it up so the stock speakers only play mid - treble which apparently works quite well. I'd rather just replace the door speakers to keep it nice and subtle though.... do car audio installers still actually exist?C70R said:

Not at all. It pissed me off eventually having to thrash the civic to get anything out of it. The only thing I miss about that car so far is the gearbox. And the stereo, which was also terrible. vtecyo said:

And the stereo, which was also terrible. 1st gear is stupidly tall too.That said, I'm not aware of many of them failing. Unlike the Clio that had a box of chocolates. They have a patchy record where master cylinders on the clutch are concerned though, mine went at about 40k and seen a few of those go similar age.
Sometimes I fear I might sound a bit negative about them, but it's great fun.
