Well done Dave, I've got some Bullbars but they are earmarked for Surfchilled! However, another mate of mine I think had some on his Jeep when he bought it and if my memory's correct I think he said he doesn't want them. I'll check for you.
Regards
Gerry

Congratulations!

If you cannot obtain a good secondhand bullbar then its worth contacting Belfield Engineering about a new one. (Andy Belfield 01597 823992)

I fitted a stereo to my '86 Geep which has a Mk2 dash. The player was slung beneath the dash in a pod, I glassed in supports for two front speakers under the dash to each side, and dropped two rear speakers into the boxed in wheel arches in the back. All seemed to work very well for many years, except the sound did seem to disappear skywards when the roof was off!

Re: Stereo.

Its all a matter of what you want to put in & where it'll fit!

Many put them under the dash with speakers mounted in pods in the back.

Mine came with a parcel shelf with 4 speakers. The stereo was underneath that in the back away from prying eyes.

To be honest I took it out as it begged to be nicked in an open top car but its up to you at the end of the day.

As long as you enjoy it at the end of the day!

Wiring a stereo isn't too difficult - a basic radio cassette can be done with a battery positive (through a fuse), a chassis negative & and two wires to each speaker. The more you add the more complicated it becomes.

Do consider the security issue though. I took my stereo out knowing full well that when switched on, everyone would know it was there. The faster you drive the more wind noise you get & turn up the volume another notch.

Any problems with your chosen installation - don't hesitate to ask for advice.

Fitting the Bullbars on the Jeep should be easy enough if the fitment is the same as mine. Line it up centrally of course, and mark off the four holes, drill and bolt on....

I have a cheap pop off front radio/cassette in a mounting pod screwed under the centre of my dash , the speakers are the boxed type so they sit under the seats not good for sound quality but out of the way as there is nowhere up front big enough.

I have found music is great to listen to when you are stood or moving slowly in traffic but.........above 40 mph the wind noise , exhaust and induction roar start to take over and its far more theraputic than the Top 40 any day!

One thing to consider if mounting a nice big set of speakers in the back is that you will only catch some of the sound , the rest might just attract the attention of a passing policeman , always be considerate as they have new powers as regards nuisance noise from vehicles.

Thats an excellent idea as im in manchester and its not the nicest of areas to have your geep on show, ive just started renting a secure garage for it also.

check out the recent post 'Taking the Plunge.'
It details a list of bits for sale - including a bull bar.

my stereo is fitted in a box built in by the owner just behind the handbrake bit of material over it and its invisible - its also an old completely removable audioline with an input for a portable cd player which i remove and carry in a rather nice if very effeminate handbag - box type speakers under the seats not ideal for sound but you can hear it
