2014 GT3 , Engine Warranty situaton ?

A friend has a 2014 GT3 that had a replacement engine fitted before he took delivery of the car new. When he asked his local OPC what was the situation now regarding the 10 year/ 100,000 miles Porsche Engine Warranty they answered " what warranty ". Is it that his OPC is unaware of Porsche Extending cover or has any other owner an answer to his question, ie are Porsche in the UK covering the Engines for 10 years ?

"I can confirm that Porsche have been made aware of such speculation. At this time, we have no formal confirmation from Porsche AG that GT3 warranties will be extended to 10 years.

Please be advised that should Porsche announce such an extension, all affected customers will be contacted directly in due course.

I am sorry that my response may be vague, however, I trust the above clarifies Porsche's current position.

OPC the same - they didn't even know that the rest of the world were getting the 10 year warranty (which, BTW, isn't a full engine warranty, it's only for the DLC lifter issue)

Very interesting ! Many of these cars are coming up to the end of their three year new car warranty next month so you would imagine Porsche UK would have information for the customers. Also, if a normal Warranty costs lets say £1100 all in , surley this figure should be reduced to allow for the engines seperate warranty for ten years ( even if it's only for part of the engine). It would be quantifiable after all.

Is this another example of the VW group looking after the US market ahead of the EU one??

I've seen a letter (cant remember where) that shows an EU country having the same warranty;
not a problem for me, as mine had the engine replaced (new G series) for the fault last year and is perfect now.

Porsche UK's response makes me lose faith a little in them - its almost like 'we cant really be bothered'

If I could find a suitable Porsche AG contact I'd pursue it directly

I think you can see some cars sticking already, especially those being sold outside (the theoretical extra comfort zone) of the OPC network.

You can also see how the prices are very, very close between 997.2 and 991.1 GT3 cars - which is a good indicator.

Almost funny that the Gospel from Stuttgart reached the United States before it has reached the UK, and the distance is shorter to Reading. Maybe the UK letter was sent litleraly by snail mail ?

There mist be quite a few UK 2014 Gt3 owners who will have this dilema in the next month or two.

That's because a load of US owners got together and went to see Porsche over there. They sorted it out for everyone.

Thought all 13/14 engine cars were given a full car, four year warranty as part of compo package-mine certainly was.

And this warranty would expire at the end of 2017 in the case of a Dec 13 car.
