So I was driving towards Aberdeen where I drove past a mobile speed van. I hadn't realised until too late that I was speeding. I checked my GPS speed in comparison to my Speedo and it looks like it was between 71-74.

Has anyone been shafted for this since the new regulations?

Whats the speed limit? 70MPH limit you'll be fine.

60MPH will be £100 fine and three points
50MPH will be £100 fine and three points
40MPH/30MPH will be a day in court.

Sorry I should have said. It's a 70, some guy pulled infront of me and slowed down massively so I pulled out to overtake him and hadn't realised.

What new regulations? Please don’t post the bks about fines being so much higher and that they’re enforcing them for 1mph over the limit.

What?

I'm aware it was silly, everyone makes mistakes. I didn't purposely speed

Then don’t believe everything you read. There are no new regulations, other than if you go to court then the fines may be a bit higher.

You will NOT be prosecuted for 1mph over the speed limit.

What can I say? I'm a maverick but if you read my comment I said between 71-74.

Well, unlikely to be fined under NPCC guidelines, BUT sentencing council does allow it

Easy to search on line, there are many sites including CPS.

So, possible at 71-74 mph, but unlikely below 78 mph.

Loads of anecdotes about it, but nobody can ever prove it.
