Griff Refurb time
Discussion
So the Griff is 25 years old and the outriggers have seen better days, she’s off to Southways in month (or so) for a body-off, which got me thinking what else I should make I do whilst I get the chance during the rebuild over the winter. Jobs list so far below, has anyone got any input on these items or am I missing anything obvious?
TBC Bits:
Suspension – I’d like to replace with something stock-like, so what are the options? Not sure I need anything track orientated as I quite like a supple ride, the bushes etc. will be done as part of the chassis work
Fuel Reserve light? – Anyone fitted on of these? as I seem to spend half my time keeping an eye on the fuel gauge
Oil Pressure Gauge - Currently shows zero-ish most of the time unless I’m cruising at 2-3k RPM, so I’m guessing the sender is kaput, I’d like to replace with a mechanical gauge if this is an option?
Carpet – Glue back on in boot etc., which glue is good for this?
Other Stuff:
Dash – Wiggins replacement wood dash, hopefully I can have a go swopping this over myself before the chassis refurb
Silencing – ACT Cherry Bomb to replace ACT straight-thru sleeved, which is a bit fruity!
Fan – bust and I have one to swop over, hopefully I can have a go at soon as the cabin need some ventilation at times (engine fumes!)
Manifolds – Get the equal length headers tweaked to avoid fouling the air intake pipe
Headlight Bowls – Clean & re-seal
Wheels – Love the x-spokes but they’re a PITA to keep clean and go dull easily, so on the lookout for some Gotti’s but not for drugs money :-)
Luckily the body/seats/interior are in pretty good shape so I can leave these as-is for now.
Cheers

Suspension - on the Chimaera forum the guys are raving about the latest (mark 4 I think) Bilsteins.
For more info, find any post by Chimpongas (Dave) and email him from his profile.
He will either give you the link to one of his detailed forum posts, or will answer in full by email.
He has them fitted on his car and loves them.
Or start a thread in the Chimaera section headed "latest Bilstein advice needed please" or something like that.

Are you thinking of doing this before the car goes for the chassis work? If so then don't.The tank has to come out and small areas of the floor carpet have to be lifted in order to take the body off.
The carpet glueing can be made good after the body is back on and the tank in.
We would use SAF111 contact adhesive for this job.
