Is anybody else playing this? I'm surprised there isn't a thread about it as its a really fun free to play. Its a bit like WOT but you make your own Mad Max style vehicles and fight with them in 3 minutes battles, so the pace is fast.

I've downloaded and started having a quick blast. And a quick blast it is wink

It was getting late (or early, depending how you look at it...) when i had my first crack at building my own and I was too tired to get the idea at all...

Here is a little building tip for you. When you construct your frame/chassis you leave a hole in it where you hide parts that explode like fuel barrels, ammo and generators. Then you place your cabin directly on top of them like this.

I have ammo and a gas generator in the frame.

edit. I think you can start doing this from around level 14 as you don't get enough of the small frame pieces until then.

Why why why did you have to recommend this...? Downloaded Saturday morning, and then managed to clock up 14 hours over the weekend hehe

Surprisingly addictive, it's the sort of game where you just tell yourself 1 more round, and then 2 hours later you're still playing.

Thanks for the building tip. I'll give it a try if I get to a high enough level. Currently made it to level 10. Out of interest, have you spent any real world cash on the game so far?

Yeah, I'm 7 hours in and on level 7 (I've got RealWorld stuff to do as well, sadly wink ).
Have not spent any real cash on it, and probably won't ever (fingers crossed behind back) as I learnt from WoT that levelling/grinding for the sake of it just isn't worth it - you just end up at the bottom of a new set of enemies, is all.
It's all about the fun for me at whatever level, and so far this game is LOTS of fun smile

I also particularly like that using parts on one build doesn't mean you can't use them on another one.
And that you can use things in ways that shouldn't work... I was constantly getting rammed by AI bots and losing front wheels (although using 4 steering wheels meant I could still make fair progress with no fronts!); my main build now has a damage dealing bumper on the front of the cabin, two minivan doors stuck sideways to that to cover the wheels and another damage dealing bumper on the front of them... much more durable wink

I also watched a quick tutorial on making some $ from the market so I've got a weapons cooler for my MGs that's well above my current grade and some nicer paint smile

biglaugh Yes, unfortunately I'll have to catch up with my real world stuff in the evenings this week.

I intend to avoid paying (at least for now), like you say it's still fun at any level. I've even found myself going back to a basic vehicle to play at lower level fights sometimes.

I have spent a little money on it but I enjoy it so why not give the devs some reward. If you do get into it maybe consider buying the £13 pack for 850 ingame coins. Use the coins to pay for workbench access with the different factions so that you can craft new weapons etc. Otherwise you will have to sell the scrap, copper, fuel and wires that you get to make some coins, leaving you with nothing to craft with.

Heres a few more tips

You get 200 free fuel per day eventually, try and make sure you use it up each day on PVE raids to get copper.

You can get free fuel by having a fuel tank in you vehicle then winning a match and still being alive. The fuel can allow you to do extra raids and get more copper. There is a 5 fuel tank from match rewards and a ten fuel tank that the Engineers can craft. You can only receive a maximum of 15 fuel from one match though i.e. one of each type of tank.

Auto cannons look and sound cool but don't bother getting them, they suck. All other weapons classes are way better than auto cannons.

Try and "strip" other players weapons from them as a priority. Shotguns are really good for this and machine guns aren't bad either. Machine guns can be a very effective starter weapon for quite a few levels.

For two wheeled vehicles having steering wheels front and back is good. All odd numbered wheel layouts should have a pair of non steering wheels in the centre of the vehicle then steering wheels in front and behind it with a pair of steering wheels on the corners of the vehicle ideally. Even numbered wheel layouts should be all steering wheels.

I have been playing quite a while so I am very high levels with all factions and have some gucchi gear so ask away if you have questions.

Still getting to grips with the game, and more importantly understanding how the market/microtransactions work. I'm pretty sure I'll put a bit of cash into it at some point soon (like you say, it's only fair on the devs), but I usually avoid things like this as I've been ripped off in the past (paying for stuff I could have got by waiting a little longer). Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to buy some honking great gun only for it to become outdated and no way of getting anything back for it hehe

Doh! I've just sold a load of scrap and bought my first item... guess what it was...

hehe I wasn't quite fast enough. You can hang onto it as one of the season missions requires you to get some kills with an auto cannon. I would rather use the basic white Lupara shotguns than Auto Cannons though.

And I just bought Jawbreaker cabin, before reading all the comments that a white cabin + gene is better than a blue cabin as it keeps your PS lower... sod it. But the couple of games I had in the JB last night were still fun, so although 'm tempted to stick it back on the market and by a gene as suggested, I'm going to play it for a while instead.

I'm having to resist spending money on this quite hard; I've paid WoT lots, but then I've had many many hours of play from it; if this game is a keeper I will cough up a bit, I'm sure smile

In the meantime, I'm definitely resisting any sense of min/maxing my builds, hence sticking with the JB cabin (with 5MGs and a cooler for its first build) until I decide I'm seeing too much high-power stuff and dying a lot in PvP wink

The jawbreaker is an awesome cabin. This is a jawbreaker build that comes in at under 5k Powerscore, we sometimes run 4 of them in a platoon and wreck everybody and it only uses white shotguns. I have seen complaints and screenshots on the official forums about this build when we do groups of them.

That is a bit evil evil

I might buy the "midgar" pack for 30 euro... plenty of coins, flame and carbon paint (obviously the coolest ones)... and a nice AC wink

Fired this up again last night after a week or so off, there was a "big black scorpions" event. If you haven't seen it, essentially it's an all-vs-all, 1-shot-kill battle in lightweight identical buggies with a vertical thruster.

It's not always available (not sure how often it comes round?), but if you get the chance give it a go as it's great fun (and a level playing field). Even managed a couple of wins smile

I think Black Scorpions is on every 4 days.

I have been doing some clan wars recently and its easily the best game mode if you have the vehicles. Its a 4 v 4 match played only on a handful of the more balanced smaller maps but you really need to have a 10K PS vehicle to stand a chance. Its really good fun as its just team v team with no randoms interfering and makes normal missions feel a bit rubbish after you finish clan wars matches. We were starting to be consistently in the top 100 but the clan seems to have died over the last week sadly. I have been using a few vehicles but this is my favourite one, the triple Fuze drone bomber.

I remembered another important tip but you may already know about using the exhibition space to give yourself another 8 blueprint spots?
