Perhaps this may well be secret squirrel stuff, but is there technology available to knock these out should he decide to let a few off towards the US .
Or is it still in the world of Hollywood?

Won't need to, at the rate he's 'test' firing them, he's gonna run out pretty soon. Problem solved.

I'm not too worried, that may be a big missile but it has a fatal flaw

The end isn't pointy so when it lands it won't be able to stick in the ground and explode, it will just fall over. We've got nothing to worry about.

No, it will bounce back.

The patriot system has quietly been rolled out in Japan about 2 months ago. They have not really made mention of it on the UK news tbh.

There are multiple defence systems in place to look out for the tell tale signs of a missile launch.

Satellites and radar monitor launch phases and various sensor suites calculate missile trajectory. Depending on how advanced the detection depends on the method of 'kill' be it mid course or as last resort in the terminal phase.

More advance missile systems contain decoys of various types and methods and once into the terminal phase can disperse multiple reentry vehicles.

Patriot should stop a cruise missile, but wouldnt stop an ICBM.

The answer is sort of.... there is a missile system in the US for stopping ICBM's on their final approach, I forget what its called, but its only been tested once, and its reliability is unknown. Furthermore, there arnt very many of them, so any attack involving multiple simultaneous missiles would present a problem.

That is of course, assuming that they've not got something super secret in space to knock them out in their cruising phase. Although that would be against international treaties and what have you.

Here we go, a really good piece from Bloomberg about how it would work.

Scuds are old tech like a Betamax video.

They would not really trouble Uncle Sam.

All this missile malarky is just a side show anyway, if he really wants to land a nuke anywhere near one of the capital cities on any coastline then he would have no need to miniaturise one to get it into a warhead anyway, he just has to put one of the chunky ones they know he already has into a slow boat from China and then just sail it into any harbour and detonate.

IIRC a fair number of scuds did hit Israel. The patriot system wasn't perfect, although I guess 25 years of development will have seen advancements.

The best news in all of this is that London is closer to North Korea than LA, never mind Washington DC. Now where's my go-bag?
