I'm looking for a new A4 and have an old car I could scrap to get the incentive.

I know you can't combine finance offers with that (for the A4 it's £3150 contribution vs £6000 scrappage) but I take it offers from Carwow etc will be before any finance/scrap discount?

For example, Buyacar give about a £6000 discount for a cash or finance sale (so the car I like with options is about £36000) and then I could take off another £6000 for the scappage?

The prices from the broker websites will be taking into account the maximum discount available and you won't be able to then take another £6k off for scrappage.

Scrappage is just an alternative discount.

Regarding this scrappage discount, is it worth just buying a £300 shed of a diesel car to give them to scrap? If you take advantage of the scrappage discount are they going to claw this back in other ways?

There's normally a specified time you have had to have owned the car to.prevent this sort of activity.

As it's not a government backed scrappage scheme you will more than likely be able to get the same discount without trading a diesel.

It's just a marketing ploy by the manufacturers to bolster sales off the back of the recent diesel bad press.
