Another 'what would you... ?' thread, as per the title... please help with suggestions as i'm struggling!!

RE 'exciting' - i took a M140i out recently and whilst fast it felt numb... i may be mad but if it helps give an idea, i quite like torque steer.

Needs to be >=golf-size (no 'toy' cars).

Any ideas?? Please fire some suggestions my way...

Megane 275 Trophy.
Quick enough, if not, an intercooler, sports car and a remap should see about 310-320ish.
Well built, decent spec (Akrapovic, Ohlins, Brembo, Recaro etc.)
A good one can be had for under 20k

23k, but only 2000 miles.

Fantastic handling.

i think DD is referring to 'exciting'. from what i understand if a 1-er doesn't feel that exciting then an R or an S3 ain't gonna cut it in that regard.

civic might be worth checking out, but not too sure if will feel slow again (is slower than rivals). biggest issue to get over with that one is the stevie wonder sponsored by rimspeed design!

but maybe i've not given the 1 a fair chance, wasn't allowed to go to sport+ (was in sport), maybe a 135 with a jb+ might add to it?

I think all 3 are more likely to let the OP feel a bit of torque steer than the 140 biggrin

torque steer was just an example of what feels 'fun' to me. sometimes worse can be better biggrin

obvs, if you get torque steer in a 1-er (this gen) then that car has some serious issues!

Let me take you out in the rain with traction off in my S3 or Golf R.....then decide!
not suggesting they're bad cars, point-to-point fast, just too refined. perhaps you have the right idea though... just get anything powerful and put ditchfinders on it!!

The Type R is slower than what rivals? Slower to 60, perhaps, because of the lack of awd, but most reviews say it is just as rapid if not more so when on the move than the likes of an RS or R...

Has to be the Megane RS275 even when they'd stopped making it, the thing still came out as the top drivers hatch against the Golf R Type R etc if the OP want a great driver's car then the Megane with the Recaros (& Ohlins dampers if you can find one) is it.

Erm, he said. Equal too or bigger than a Golf. A Golf,S3 and Civic all fit that. I would say they are not ‘toy’ cars either.
Before you point and laugh I’d suggest checking the facts, no?
Have a guess what this means

Specsavers will be shut now anyway, so you'll have to try tomorrow.

given some of the posts here perhaps specsavers provide better quality glasses, at a cheaper price than more expensive providers. that or someone had their truth re-programmed and then tried to pass fault on to another biggrin
