Disco 5 Hybrid?

I have read a new hybrid set up is coming for the RRS and Disco Sport. Anyone have intel on the same power train in a Disco? If so and speculation in when?

I’d love a similar set up to the Volvo T8 in a Disco.

I had an XC90 T8 for a 4 day test drive.

While it was a very nice car it just wouldn't have worked for us.

I could get to work and back on a charge if I was very light footed on the accelerator...and had a tail wind. Work is 7 miles each way.

Once the charge had gone, usually after a few fun accelerations from the lights, it just reverted to a very thirsty petrol car. Not surprisngly of course. I do 30,000 miles a year, most of which would be perfromed with little or no charge.

The kicker for us was that we tow a caravan and the reported mpg when towing was approx 15mpg...with only a 50 litre fuel tank! I could get 21-22mpg with my Disco 4.

No grant for the vehicle as it was over the threshold, even at entry level, also contributed to the decision.

I would the imagine the same sort of figures for the RRS but would imagine that all that extra electrical gubbins could cause some gremlins. PHEV's of this size are really just a token nod to green credentials IMHO.

coming? Its here. PHEV on a vehicle of that size and weight was always going to be a challenge.

Hopefully LR will have the sense to launch the Defender replacement with PHEV if they can manage to fit it the D4 platform
