changing Audio system on edition 30 golf. Battery issues?

Hi I have an 07 edition 30 golf dsg and currently has the standard audio system. I was thinking of upgrading it to the newer vw satellite Audio system but I’ve heard that this drains the battery? Can anyone shed some light on this and whether it’s worth doing or not

Certain systems (RCD 310, RCD 510 and RNS 510) cause battery drain with the earlier version of the CAN Gateway. If I remember correctly 2007 was the Gateway changeover year so depending when yours was built it may or may not be affected.

Alternatively some systems (RNS 310) don't seem to cause battery drain and can be fitted to any car without worrying about it.
