Alternative to bottles of wine for Christmas to clients
Discussion
Our sales people are planning the std giving out of bottles of wine at Christmas but some feel it is a waste of time (I agree) but none can come up with an alternative. What, if anything do you do instead?
EDIT: To clarify, bottles of wine to our clients, not staff

Hampers. Awful ones for awful people (£10 B&M Bargains) right up to spiffing ones for spiffing people (£75 John Lewis).
(and get one for yourself. £300 Fortnum & Mason)

Of course if you know them well, phone them and have the "I won't if you don't" convo. Always goes down well ime, and gets another monkey off your back.

A big lump of meat - Maybe a nice full bone Italian/Spanish Ham (from Lidl - Harrods depending on quality).
That would strike me as a bit odd, I think.OP - big box of chocolates (or indeed several big boxes of chocolates). They're easy to share, theu usually fall below the "declare gifts and hospitality" threshold, they normally get passed down to the minions at the coal face....
When I worked for a company that did this, I suggested something that the recipient would use daily, and remind them of us, without being too obvious.
I suggested a really good quality wallet, with a very subtle and discreet embossing of the company name or logo on it.
Depending on your location or industry, is there a particular spirit that associates well? I think we had Finlandia Vodka arrive from one of our Finnish contacts at one point.

Green & Blacks do some good chocolate & wine hampers. Order directly with them, and they go straight to the recipient. You can customise each message (I am not sure if you have to do that over the phone). I have used these on a number of occasions, and they make a good alternative to some of the others, as they can be shared out amongst a team.
We've also done Hotel Chocolat before, they offer a nice range of options which can be very useful to show different levels of appreciation!
Have found they generally go down very well.
Their service also enables you to manage everything from their site, including postage, gift card etc, so nice and easy.
If you're spending over £250 in total you can use their corporate services, and they offer discounts too IIRC.

What is your business? My company is computer software and I don't offer a gift to my clients at Xmas but if one of them acts as a reference for me which involves an on-site visit I send them a nice bottle of port or champagne. Is Xmas gifts standard in your industry? louiebaby said:

This - useful things last longer in the memory of the receipient. I've been given a few mobile phone / tablet power banks. There's a discreet company logo on, but it's something that I or my kids use regularly.
