Hi all,

I believe I have health anxiety in one way or another. For the past few years I have phases where if I don't feel good or if I find a rash or lump on my body I'll suddenly start thinking it's something sinister and then Googling it makes it 10x worse. Does anyone else suffer from this? Tips would be appreciated.

Many thanks

print off this page,

take it to your GP and don't leave until he/she has listened to you and arranged some CBT

and CHILL, things aren't half as bad as you think they are.

find a friend and talk to them about it, a problem shared is a problem halved,

I had it pretty bad a couple of years ago now, convinced myself I had pancreatic cancer and had it pretty bad for a few months.

CBT didn’t work for me I know it does help many but couldn’t get my head round it also got put on meds’ again didn’t stay on them long as the side effects were horrible.

End of the day with the help of my wife I just pushed myself to get passed it, I was lucky I got many tests done to prove I was ok and it was the anxiety that was making me feel the way I did. It’s amazing how the mind can have such an effect on your wellbeing and play tricks on you.

Stop using Dr Google is the first step, for me keeping busy and exercising got me through and trying to channel my thoughts elsewhere.

I still sometimes overanalyse how I feel sometimes but I can now move on quickly so it’s still there but thankfully under control.

As said above see your doc in fact mines was great and very supportive It was the worst few months of my life but you can get it sorted.
