Hi,

I have lifted for many years - on/off depending on work pressures and personal stuff etc.

I have a six month target to get back to a reasonable muscular build. Most of my lifting life has been centred around Deads, squats, cleans, rows. Free-weight compounds essentially.

However, having seen callisthenics and the transformation some of my friends have had utilising just a power rack / bodyweight i am shocked.

Anyone here do callisthenics, and more importantly in a home gym environment?

Thanks

I follow THENX on Youtube, most can be done at home with simple chin-up bar equipment and the floor work doesn't really require a gym just space.

He is the most ripped 13 year-old boy I have seen, that's for sure. smile

Bodyweight exercises are good for showing off but dont really return much bang for back in terms of physique changes. Pull-ups are an exception to that - they are brilliant. Press-ups can get pretty useful if you add resistance, but are otherwise not really difficult enough to build any muscle.

If you are more interested in losing fat, not eating food is way easier than doing hundreds of push ups.

I do it down the park as they have a decent fitness area. You'd need a pull up bar and something to do dips on. If you are strong enough already then you can start on ring dips straight away.

There's a few beginner/intermediate routines that give progressions through the exercises. You'd still probably want to do deadlifts and squats in the gym though.
