My Karmann Ghia has got something on the windscreen which won't polish out. It's like weld spatter but isn't as it hasn't burnt into the surface. How abrasive can I go with polish to get rid of it?

Have you go a DA machine polisher, i use microfibre cutting pads with a polishing compound. This polishes glass lightly and should remove light stains. I do not think you would harm the glass using a medium cutting compound with a microfibre clough either.
Try something like 3m fast cut plus

Haven't got a DA but it's a relatively small area so will give it a go by hand.

Had a go by hand with some cutting compound and it better but still there. Another go and it should be ok.
