After seeing that a PS4 bundle with Fifa whatever is now £199, I took the plunge and decided that I should have one.

I really want driving games but could do with advice. I've ordered the original Project Cars and will likely get GTA V next week (mainly as I loved the earlier, PS2 versions many years ago) and when the latest Gran Turismo comes out later this month will probably have that too.

But what else? Is Project Cars 2 and good? What about F1 2017? I always found the earlier versions a bit hard work so I'm not sure on that.

Anything else the driving gamers of PH can recommend?

DriveClub is good, it was a bit of a dog when it was first released but was patched frequently and obviously had a dev team who cared about it - now very polished with tons of content....not a driving sim mind you but enjoyable. Pretty cheap to pick up now too.

Apart from that haven't tried any other driving game on the PS4, GT Sport due imminently....but I have my suspicions it'll be a disappointment. F1 2017 gets good press too...but I've not tried it.

Project Cars 2 while superb has issues which might annoy you. Can't fault the content day/night/weather/cars/tracks everything you need in a racing game. Assetto Corsa is also very good but limited content on console and it doesn't seem to get the same focus from its devs as the PC version. Drives nicely though with a lot less tweaking than may be necessary to enjoy PCars.

You really need a wheel to enjoy them properly although they are playable with controller.

Thanks. I'd read reviews of Project Cars 2 which looked a little bit offputting.

I know it would be better with a wheel but I'm really wanting something that I can just bang on and play for an hour or so once the kids are asleep so for that a steering wheel might be a bit much!

They're playable with controller no worries. I play them on pc but have project cars on PS4 in the living room on tv for just chilling out...

If you're getting GTA V for the first time and enjoyed the previous versions then you wont need anything else for a while in my opinion. I loved it!

Not sure about a controller as i use a wheel.

But I got a PS4 about a month ago and have Assetto Corsa which drives very well but is not polished. Graphics are so so and there are no lap times recorded. But you can just jump in any car and have a race or whatever.

Just got F1 2017 a few days ago and so far so good. A lot more in depth career mode and strategic racing too

Heard project cars 2 is pretty buggy so will wait till they have sorted it and it gets cheaper too. And gran turismo is out soon but doubt know much about that - it'll probably have 300 cars and about 250 of those just different versions of the same thing with a pointless grind to drive anything better than a Suzuki cappuccino.
