Received a ticket for parking in a loading bay.
Discussion
Situation occured on a red Route (London) though I was parked in a bay marked "No parking except for loading-maximum 20 minutes"
I was less than 20 minutes (probably 5) and I was loading albeit into a car not a commercial vehicle. Sign didn't specify vehicle type.
Am I within my rights to park there?
Thanks

(loading/unloading - should be OK - from what it seems)

Why aren't I within my rights if i was loading?(loading/unloading - should be OK - from what it seems)
Do you understand the difference between parking and loading/unloading? That is what you should know, and be able to prove that you were loading/unloading and not parking.

You did not ask that, you asked if you were OK to park.

How can I prove I was loading? The picture just shows the car parked in the bay. Doesn't show multiple shots of loading.Do you understand the difference between parking and loading/unloading? That is what you should know, and be able to prove that you were loading/unloading and not parking.

I was not being facetious, but you DID say, am I OK to park! If you knew you were delivering in advance, then a sign stuck in the car, hazards on (I am not a fan of people using those for non-hazards). These are not a requirement for unloading, so just get someone to affirm you were delivering and return letter as such. If you had a Ph.D you could leave a note, doctor on call! (Yes I know you were done by a camera)
So to repeat, get someone to confirm your delivery, and send that, e-Mail should be OK, as far as I can see - perhaps better.
Incidentally, you say 'picture shows the car parked in the bay'. For goodness sake get your terminology right if you are contesting! Try 'the picture shows the car STATIONARY in the bay' and not PARKED.
Seems a bit much to have to jump through all these hoops to prove I was loading.
Not trying to be clever (and I will get a letter from my associate who owns the business I was collecting/loading from) but I would've thought the onus was on the authority to prove I was guilty.
A picture doesn't do this.

Well, OP, you can give them all that information up front, or play with them. That is, say you were unloading, and challenge them. Then let them get back to you. I agree it is a pain, but what else is there? I presume you have read any small print in the fine. I assume it is Council controlled, and not private.

I was loading boxes of various goods from an office, caught on camera not by a warden.
That doesn't in itself justify loading. It could have been three staplers in their boxes.Generally it needs to be large items which cannot easily be carried a distance. I think many councils publish their criteria.

The sign says loading only, doesn't say what or what into. i was loading, I was in a loading bay. I wasn't in it for more than the published time. I am an innocent man.Generally it needs to be large items which cannot easily be carried a distance. I think many councils publish their criteria.

Parking, loading, delivering, seems a spectrum rather than absolutes.
