Who services your Omega watch?

Omega watches are based in Eastleigh and are part of the Swatch group. I have dropped a watch in there recently and was told that they are discouraging personal callers.
They are saying to box or jiffy bag the watch up and then send with a letter detailing what you want done to PO Box 237, Eastleigh, Hants SO50 5UW, using Royal Mail Special Delivery. If you need anything else, give them a buzz on 023 8064 6850.

TBH, it depends on how much you trust your jeweller.
I have a local guy who will farm out services on conventional stuff (7750s rolex etc) to his local watchmakers and I'll pay trade. However, when it comes to Patek, AP or the like, he's happier sending it to an authorized service centre.
An Omega speedmaster is a fairly commonplace piece (no offence). I'd have thought any decent local jeweller would have a watchmaker on board that could deal with it and you wouldn't end up paying that much.
If you can't get get any reasonable quotes, mail me and I'll give you some contact details.

Just to reiterate what some of the others have said (apart from Smokin who has contributed excellently to this topic
) the best thing to do is either find a trusted specialist or take it back to the jeweller and they'll send it off to Omega for you.
Or search on the web if you get really stuck.

Earnest Jones do it - for around £100 - 150.
I have a few Omegas, including a Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch, which costs about £150 a service. Not sure about the automatic - probably less. In fact it should be about the same as my Seamaster James Bond Chronograph - around £120.
Watches don't need to be serviced once a year - once every three or four years should be more than adequate unless performance indicates a need.
