Is it me or is this a 2007, at the latest... why is it marked as 2011? An '11 reg plate wouldn't be allowed on an older model would it?

The W164 ran from 2005 - 2011, so it's quite feasible it's a 2011 model?

But it's pre facelift and the facelift came in 2007 / 2008.

The facelift headlight are a tad different and the steering wheel / parts of the interior also evolved. This has the older pre facelift front end and interior!

Facelift was 08/09 (officially '09 model year). It probably sat around unregistered for a couple of years, it wouldn't be the first time I've seen it happen. HPI check definitely states it was registered 1/3/2011, comparing the VIN numbers would be a definitive check, but I've known other cars get registered 2 or 3 years after they were built before.

Saw something similar discussed on a Merc forum about an R Class - IIRC the story was it had sat unsold in S. Ireland and MB had brought it back and registered it here so it didn't show ad an import and was "new at first registration".

Ahhh! You learn something new every day; never knew that. That would explain it.

May not be the same thing, of course. I'm travelling at the moment but will try and find the story when I get back.

Yep for definite an Irish Car that didn't get registered
The door mirrors are the give away to the age of mercs.

Single indicator - 06 to 08 ish
Single indicator with a silver top - 08 to 11 ish
Three finger indicator - 11 onwards until the 166 came in.
