Have owners been heavily warned by their supplying dealers that if they are found to have 'flipped' their cars for a profit there is little chance of them being sold a Special Porsche again? Very much along the line of how Ferrari operate with 98% of their customers?

I have heard stories of customer (very much like Ferrari) being pushed to buy cars they weren't really in the market for like last of the current Cayenne's, Panamera and stock 911s etc. IMO when this type of deal happens the owner should be totally free to do with their cars what they wish without repercussions. Are Porsche there to support you on the losses you suffer from certain cars?

Whatever happens those who chose to take a profit will now most probably do it quietly away from the classified to prevent any outcry.

Just interested to hear how the dealers are treating the owners taking delivery of GT cars.

Have a great day.

My guess is if you sell a car for "overs" with limited miles on it to a specialist dealer like Romans, Top 555, JZM etc within a year of buying it the supplying OPC would regard it as the car being flipped. If you sell that car back to the supplying OPC with light use say after six months ownership I suspect you'd maintain your relationship just fine. A 1000 mile R has just been listed on the AUC site....I suspect the OPC on that is very happy having such a high margin car to sell and the owner has a very tidy profit. Everyone's a winner....

Exactly what I was thinking. Selling it back to the OPC so they get a second bite doesn't make you a bad customer, it makes you a doubly good one.

Ferrari expect you to give them first refusal on the car, or wait long enough for the resale covenant to expire. Presumably Porsche are the same.

If it turns up in the network for servicing or whatever with a new owner I would expect them to blackball you, unless - as cmoose said - you're a good enough customer that it's in their best interests to turn a blind eye.

As with everything rules are massaged or strictly enforced depending on how valuable you are to them.

OPC’s aren’t allowed to advertise/sell a vehicle through official channels above list price with in the first year of registration.

Really ?! Surely OPC's have handled cars at premium's within that time frame ?

They are not allowed to sell GT cars while they are still in production..... doesn't stop them selling then though, they just don't advertise online in case Porsche GB find out!!

Lots of cars get flipped through the OPC, one franchise even continues to sell their limited edition cars to the same 'select' customers knowing they will sell them straight back to the dealership with delivery mileage! Everyone's a winner in their eyes.

I am sure they can do it from another part of the group though. Stratstone who own I think four or five OPC's have a showroom near me selling nearly new premium used cars from a variety of brands including Porsche.

From what little I know about the subject (and it bores me a bit TBH) dealers don't just hand a customer a five-figure Christmas present in GT form. It tends to be more of a joint venture, with both parties doing very well out of it.

Added to which most Dealer Principals are ugly bds, they need to get blowjobs somehow.

Not at all. I have nothing to do with the business.

The reason is mainly due to the European attitude seems very different to the UK and then both are again very different to the US. I am in mainland Europe now but I was in the UK when the 991 GT3 RS was delivered and Porsche were starting to get very hard with the dealers and also look closely at the cars appearing on the market shortly after delivery.

I dont think porsche really care any more,as long as they sell. The enthusiasts who supported the brand for over 30 years, and have helped porsche be where they are now in the market place.
If porsche really cared about who has the specials it would be easy to police, but porsche are more interested in converting owners from other brands, which is a big win on there part and the enthusiasts are always there to pick up the pieces or pay the overs, shamefull really.

There may well be some interesting trading going on for sure.
