Golf GTI Mk5 - Market
Discussion
Not usually one for posting things like this as ultimately it does come down too me for a decision.
I bought a MK5 Golf GTI (3 door, Manual) just over a year ago now. I haven’t used it now for about 3-4 months as I have been using a Mazda 6 estate. Jumped back into the Golf at the weekend and just for some reason haven’t enjoyed it as much as I thought. Perhaps need to go out for a good drive. Bizarrely miss the Mazda which had a fairly high spec, lots of toys etc but I don’t need an estate for a single man and no kids.
I regress. My main reason for this thread is to find out what the Golf GTI market is generally like. Mine is completely standard but has only done 35,000 miles. Is it a good time to sell? Will the market fall on the MK5 with newer models coming out all the time and looking at Mk3/4’s it’s scary how much you can get them for. Mk5 always seems to have good reviews compared to the MK4 but I’m really not all clued up on the Volkswagen side of things.
So basically is it a good time to sell or perhaps hold onto? Just unsure what I would replace it with although should really put it towards my first place!
Discussion or any pointers welcome!

Why would you even entertain the thought of holding onto it if you prefer the Mazda 6 estate??! lol!
Just sell it and bump the price up a bit for the low mileage and see what you get. The values for all Golfs will continue to fall.....except limited run specials like the Rallye, G60 Limited, Clubsport S and mint condition MK1s and 2s.
