Hi All

Can someone please explain to me what this car is? I have been looking at 400SE's for a short while now and listening to Glen about their differences and this car doesn't seem to have the single central dash stack or the integral front splitter.

So does that make it an earlier 350/390SE with a souped up engine?

Ah, I see Wayne is selling up then. Yes, it's basically a 390SE with a bigger engine:

An early 350SE/390SE with further engine work, claimed 300hp. 1986-1987. Allegedly only 7 made.

Some articles say a development for the 420 that went into the SEAC, but with milder cams. Interestingly my 420SE is engine NCK050 and NCK051 was an 420SEAC, so that works smile

The one in the classified has an SEAC spoiler that wasn't standard.

Yes Bob.....it's a pre 400SE shape so technically a 350i with a few more flared bits and bigger engine (like my old 420se)

Thanks for all of your responses. I could see that the engine is running a different ECU system. No AFM or Flapper box and coil packs in evidence.

I guess that the NCK has either gone or been heavily modified.

The search continues.

Thanks for the link. I managed to read the first page and the last page skipping the 6 in the middle. Looks as if there was some passionate debate about this car back in the day.

Not wanting to stoke the fire...

So is this the Firefox car?

I binge read that entertaining thread and at the end it was still being claimed an SEAC.

Now it for sale as an SE?

Was there a Season 2 that I missed and need to catch up, or just a change to a less pragmatic owner?

It always was a 420SE - early pictures of it emerged (painted black originally, I seem to recall) with a "420SE" badge on the back.

Thanks, so it turned out to be even more special than a common SEAC then, a real 420SE, just 1 of 7 smile

I wouldn't say "more special" than a SEAC, just made in fewer numbers... wink
