Possible Patek purchase
Discussion
My father is looking to purchase a 2011 World Time 5130R-001 Rose Gold Calibre 240 HU from a retailer. £22k
Papers, box etc are all present. Not sure it has had a service (told him to ask), looked up costs c.£1000. I assume if not serviced then due now.
Any advice or things to ask / consider before the purchase would be greatly appreciated. This is abroad where he lives. I can see on Chrono24 a couple at £24k and £25k 2014 models with recent services.

I’ve just snapped-up a 2009 PP Travel Time 5134g which is exquisite.
It was serviced late in 2016 and that came to €1400. The motor is the 512 PS. The PP 5130 runs on the 240 HU unit. I’m not sure what PPs policy is on cost/time/complexity with regards to servicing but a grand may be a little light.
As a 2011 PP 5130, it is more likely than not that your perspective purchase has not been serviced but will definitely be due one soon. I had to check through 3 PP5134 to get one where the hour and second hour hand aligned properly - indicating possible abuse, poor 3rd party servicing etc... Ditto with date PPs, alignment should be perfect. Your PP5130 may be a lot more difficult to ascertain by the nature of the beast.
Buy yourself a good LED illuminated loupe. Check every square mm. The online watch market is to me a bit like buying an Aston or Fezzer from an insurance company, repo firm or finance outfit; you may get a great bargain, a good car but one where the history may be questioned and you should provision to ensure you can put it straight or release back into the wild
