Been looking for some side rubbing strip trim tape close to the factory standard that allows trim to be refitted right up close against the body (so muck and rain cant sit on the top edge and eventually cause the trim to lift) yet all I am seeing on Ebay is tapes that are at least 1mm in thickness, some being even thicker meaning the trim will not be a flush fit like it was from the factory.

Surely there is some good really thin double sided tape that will give a more original fit.

Can anybody recommend what (the exact name of the product) or where to buy from or is this stuff only available to the pro bodyshops?

Last body moulding / strip I put on a car had 3m branded tape already on it, pretty close to your second link.

by chance i found some very thin double sided trim tape in, of all places, Halfords today! didnt expect to find that in Halfords thought it might be far harder to find some decent thin tape but there it is at only 5.99 for a roll of 12mm x 5m. bargain provided its strong stuff...........

late to the game

But tbh you often find trim's and moulding's reverse side is slightly recessed therefore quite often most tapes are not thick enough to provide contact to the surface

On quality of tapes 3m is a good tape but expensive Jtape is also a very good and available on Ebay very cheap, shouldnt be considered a substandard tape Jtape are big players in the refinish world and make quality tapes

It's all i use in my shop and chopping and changing many times

I have done tear test's on most tapes and found Jtape and 3M to be the best
