Afternoon all, so Rad caps for my LS2 ro VXR. I dropped it off at the garage for the MOT and it decided to have a small leak. Now it could be the air con but I don't think so, my guess is the rad cap has failed.

The rad cap seems to need changing on these every couple of years which seems like a bad design.....so my question....has anyone found a replacement that does a better job? If not, with the loss of monkfish I guess we just go to Vauxhalls for one, or has someone found a decent supplier? With longevity in mind (when these parts get rare/ non existent) can these be fixed or modified to work better.....thoughts please?

Hi,
I had a STANT pressure release cap (the one with a red lever on the top) on my old rad for years with no problem, plus you can release the pressure on the rubber seal before removing it and "drop" it back down when you close it. (acdelco 12R10S or GM 19137332) e.gonly> https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-12R10S-Professional...

Only replaced now as the second rad blew so have now gone Aluminium

hope this helps

There is a lot of stuff on au ebay , i don’t know what the cap looks like i don’t know if it’s like subaru where one cap fits a number of different makes and models , any chance of a photo , is it the same cap as the ls3 ? or just specific problems to ls 2 ?

I change my rad cap on my ls2 every two years to prevent premature failure. Their cheap enough, treat it as a service item.

From a little digging it would seem that the rad caps have increased in value and £20 is a fair price. Also they are not available from my local Vx dealer......I am going to try to "fix," an old one I have. With parts becoming scarce or no longer available we will have to engineer our way out of it idea

I've just bought 3 from Rock Auto for £14 each including postage. That should keep me going for a while.

Link has gone now. IIRC the part number is 92177005 for the Monaro and 92205634 for the VXR8.

That is correct for the Monaro, well the one that was on eBay and the one I've bought from Rock.
