Vmax - three tiers?
Discussion
What, eh, who, where?
I've missed a *lot* of conversation here. Is there some proposal to run a VMAX for people with slightly-less-quick metal?
I'd love to do another VMAX but last time I went I was second slowest at 143mph. Felt like I was letting the side down a little even though it was huge huge fun...

Why all the snobbery? If the car is good enough, why can't anyone come? I personally have been around PH for 7 months and would love to do a Vmax. I have contacted the team, and hopefully by the time I am accepted into a Vmax I will have sorted myself out with a Porsche or TVR..... yet I am sure I will now be labelled as a wannabe because I was not at any of the Vmax's before 5th Gear!!
Surely at the end of the day it is all about people with fast cars seeing how fast they can go in the safety of Bruntingthorpe.
However, if you are all as elitist as that, maybe those of us that can (currently) only do 150mph should organise a seperate day and have some fun going fast in our cars rather than getting upset about "new faces who were not there from the start so are not worthy"!!
Sorry, it is late and I am grumpy, but there are more important things to worry about. I am sure the organisers are not going to let in any Saxos, so I am sure Vmax is safe for the time being!!

If you lower the minimum required speed below 160mph you may as well invite thalf the country along. My nomal golf will top 150, just like most other motorway fodder. As the word gets out I think you may have trouble booking enough time on the tracks. Who wants to see a load of impreza's / hondas etc topping out at 150 anyway? Best left to the exotica IMO.

There is no snobbery at all during v-max days.
Surely the range of machinery present backs this up? (take a look at the speed table from last time)
Agreed there was no snobbery on the day.
As owner of probably the cheapest car there (mx5) and 2nd slowest, I was made to feel very welcome by everyone I met. In fact I got quite a lot of people asking me about the car or for rides and got rides in some nice cars too. Top day out.

There is a lot more to Bruntingthorpe than the straight. Yes its nice to max your car out but for a lot of the cars there the wide sweeping corners are the most fun.

Surely if its corners youre after - go on a track day?
Vmax - its in the title?
I felt a LOT safer at vMax than I have ever done at a track day. Thing is you just don't know what idiot is going to turn up at a track day. Everyone at vMax behaved impeccably AFAIK. Case in point when I had finished posing for Trackdemon's photo and spun off
the next three drivers all stopped, asked if I and the car where ok and if I needed any help. That wouldn't happen at a trackday.gemini said:
Thank christ it doesnt
Come round a corner and - oh look theres 3 helpful people parked inthe track!!
Nit picking there? My point was I've been on trackdays where the drivers didn't seem to give a damn about other drivers or their cars and blatently ignored overtaking and trackday etiquette to the point where they where reckless.Sorry, I wasn't suggesting there was any snobbery on the day. It was just the first post on this thread (and a few posts elsewhere), that seem to suggest people want to keep Vmax all to themselves. My point was, as long as the car is fast enough (and I was not suggesting I was at only 150), it shouldn't matter when someone gets involved.
....or maybe I just got the wrong end of the stick!

With due respect, What a load of rubbish. VMAX is all about like minded drivers enjoying achieving the max _their_ car will do safely and enjoying the company of the people there. Am pretty certain the vast majority of the drivers I've spoken to at various VMAX events would concur.
It's exactly this open attitude that makes the company at VMAX so enjoyable.
