I have just taken a leap of (financial) faith on the basis of 'you only live once'. I picked up my 2003 911 Turbo on Friday.

I would be interested in any advice on fitting a child seat for a 2 year old in the rear of any post '02 996. I did plenty of research on various web sites that kept throwing up the Britax Freeway as the best alternative seat to the Porsche Prince child seat, but when I came to fit it ... well it didn't !! The seat belt buckle mount was too far forward, so i can only assume this was modified for the '02 on cars so the Britax seat no longer fits.

Any thoughts help or guidance welcome, or indeed feedback on the Porsche Prince seat.

Do a search on Porsche Prince - it has been discussed a while back.

Had a Prince in my 02 Carerra and the fit was worse than a Britax (which also reclined, had padded side support, and a more secure harness).

I Have the Porsche Zoom child seat. It fits perfectly in the rear seats, front seats and in any other car.

It has all the trimmings (armrests, head support etc)
and converts into just a booster seat when they get bigger. In fact its so good i would buy one again even if i didnt have the tt.

The Zoom is I think the same as the Recaro (I think Recaro make the Zoom). Problem is that starts from 3 1/2 years and my little 'un is only 2yrs in June, so the Prince or the Britax Freeway seem to be the popular choices for the younger kids.
There seem to be very mixed views on the Prince and that does concern me so Iwould love to find an alternative.

Many thanks for the replies, they have helped and Dave, you were absolutely right the Recaro does indeed fit and is probably what we will buy. Any further thoughts on this most welcome, eg do you use the impact cushion ?

Anyway - having spent a long time checking all the options, I will summarise as follows to help anyone else searching on this topic.

The Recaro start is for 3 1/2 yrs upward, but the 'pro' enables the use of an additional impact cushion which enables younger children to safely use the same seat, and when they are old enough to dispense with the cushion and just use the seat alone. Costs are £189.99 (same price everywhere) + about another £30 for the separate cushion. Halfords sell the same seat except using a slightly different model name (still Recaro). A big advantage is the same seat can be used until they are much older without the need to change. It also has inbuilt speakers in the headrest, - another reason I intend to buy one, so the adults don't have to listen to the music we all play to them once in a while. The recaro gives pretty good leg room as it sits further back than the Britax.

The Britax should fit according to most people but in my car it just doesn't. I think something must have been changed (maybe 996 2002 facelift cars on ?) but the buckle touches the seat badly causing twist which can also be quite dangerous. If you have a car it will fit they are good value at £45 for last years fabrics in Halfords.

On the Porsche Prince, this the same thing I believe as the Britax Romer Prince. Porsche no longer sell this exact model, but it is about £170 delivered from the Porscheshop (.com I think). HOWEVER if you can live with the old type fabric, then Citroen still sell this at £111 and one place is discounting it at £95. Try www.citroen.slatersparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=325

The other piece of info is that very late cars and the 997 come with isofix points, and the seats are £300 +. Apart from the mounting, this is essentially the same seat you can buy from Citroen at £95 !!

I hope all this info. saves someone the hours I have spent searching, and thanks to everyone who contributed.
