I ran out of my last lot a while back and haven't ordered more, preferring instead to just send my details from my mobile.

Do you still use them?

Very occassionally.

Mostly just to save someone writing down a phone number or email address.

It's not about you though, it's about what your clients want.

I still use them a lot. It is very unprofessional not to have them and, in some cultures, insulting. I also get irritated by people who try and send details electronically as they tend not to have exact job title, physical address etc

In my line of work it's not considered unprofessional. But a couple of times in the last week I've wanted to give my card to someone in a more, different context. Hence the question.

Which leads me on to: I wear several hats, which of my positions should I put on my card?

On a related topic, I think people who do not include contact numbers on all emails should be taken out, shot, hung, drawn, quartered and then shot again.

That is all.

Then doesn't that you should not try to compare your business practice with others in other lines of work?
only you know what is acceptable in your line of work.

fwiw. if you tried to use your phone to give me your details I would laugh and ask for a card, not because I don't have the technology, just that I like to manage who actually goes in my contacts. No offence but you might not make the grade wink

Perhaps nothing at all, just name, company and contact details?

So, have you thought about having QRR codes for each hat stored on your mobile?

Yes, I may have to do that because I work for different companies. A bit cumbersome though.

So, umm, aren't those companies providing you with cards?

Or are they all your companies?

In general I use far fewer than in the part but in certain meetings they are necessary. I also wear several hats and have specific cards for different organizations.

My companies, and not in a sector where the lack of a business card is a problem.

We used to have a design agency who did branding, business cards included. But getting them to do anything would be four figures. Are companies like Moo.com any good or will it look like I bought busine cards out a machine in a service station?

Seems like you're trying to solve a problem you don't have.

The business cards should, obviously, have the same corporate image as your other stuff - if the online packages can't cater for this you could ask a competent printer and tell him the fonts, pantones etc. If you know anything about design/print you'll be able to close the gaps yourself, or perhaps ask a tame PHer to help.

Ah, yes. In my line of work, without exception, found amongst the public sector clients.
