Anyone got one of these? I work from home but do the school run and normally pop out at lunch time, so reckon I can run on leccy for the whole day most days, but I do have a 140 mile round trip every Weds to visit a client. Obviously this will mean running in petrol mode, but I like the idea of doing all the short trips on electric, and I like the practicality of the estate. Passat is a boring looking car but there don't appear to be many other hybrid estates out there at the moment (Merc doesn't do it for me, think they are uglier even than the Passat!). Is it worth waiting to see what BMW/Audi etc come up with or is this all there is right now?

I test drove one and really liked it. Lots of space, both for people and for stuff, yet still with a decent (for current range of hybrids) pure electric range. Best hybrid on the market and you get get new ones with a good discount as well.

I didn't buy one because we decided to forgo hybrid for full electric. But the Passat GTE was very tempting.

Not sure about the Audi lineup but BMW have stated that their PHEVs won’t make it into the touring bodyshells.

For now I guess it’s the Outlander or Passat, failing that, the BMW 225xe or Mini Countryman SE have slightly more room and usable space than the equivalent saloons you see knocking around.

Got a feeling there’s a Kia SUV coming out too but haven’t got much time to research that now I’m afraid.

I've had mine for a year (in Norway so apologies for talking in Km)

My commute is 70km a day at 110km/h on the motorway. I'll see 70mpg easily, 80 is possible if I'm sensible.

The 50km range is realistically 35km at that speed, and there are some steep sections to be fair.

3 hours 50 mins to charge from flat from a normal socket.

It's a well built thing, Active Info Display is essential.

My only gripe is the easy boot open ( where you swipe your foot under the bumper ) is really iffy.

Let me know if you want specific info, I'll be happy to help.
