Anyone who is informed on vans, your opinion/experience would be greatly appreciated!!

Mainly looking to know about reliability and fuel economy! Also any personal experience I suppose!

The van will be my daily and will take me and the dog places at weekend as well as to shove my mountain bike in the back.

Any info appreciated! smile

I have a 140hp Caddy and I love it. 0-60 in 10 secs is good enough in a van.

Never driven the little Transit.

Sounds more than enough for me!

Whats fuel economy like? I'm not excepting miracles, but so long as I won't be looking for a pump once a week!

I've got a caddy in work and it was just in for a service etc so I had a connect. Couldn't wait to get my caddy back! Drives nicer and comfier than the connect.
Had mine from new on a 15 plate and it's now on 64000 miles and up to now not had anything go wrong with it.
Now I've said that bet it won't start in the morning!

Something car derived ? Might be worth considering if you'll get frustrated with lower speed limits on certain roads.

I'm currently running two cars chief, a Z4 and a Shogun Pinin.

I'm selling both now because whilst I appreciate the performance and drive of the Z4, I'm not bothered about owning it anymore. Whilst the Shogun offers the room I require, fuel economy is terrible haha.

I was looking at the wide range of Volvo estates but it'll get oily and mucky. If I get some thing like that I'll care too much and want to keep it clean.

That's proper that! Caddys are convincing me, you have any experience with Transit Couriers? I find the Connects a bit ugly!

I've been thinking the same recently.
Quite like the idea of a slightly chavved up caddy van to chuck the bike in and....other stuff.

Might sit nicely next to my classic be camper as well

I meant car derived van not an actual car ie something that wouldn't be subject to lower speed limits (such as a Transit Connect) whilst remaining large enough for your needs.

Another option could be a dual-purpose vehicle - again, not subject to lower speed limits.

The range of car derived vans is sadly very limited. Certainly very little with much usable space that I can call to mind.

The courier is much smaller than a connect, its more bipper/ nemo size, and you can get it with the 1.0t out of the fiesta.
It's a nice van, I like them, my last company had a fleet of caddys and connects, connects where bigger in the back and the bottom of the range ones had more kit, such as a solid bulkhead vs a plastic net in the caddy, Bluetooth, very good radio with dab etc, of course a caddy will be nicer if you're going top spec especially new as they can also be fitted with a petrol engine now and nice toys like ACC
