In a van, camping, 20+ deg looks possible, sat and sun night.

I don't want to do anything, just get away, alone.

Newcastle is almost doable too with a tail wind and a quiet A1

May switch to motorbike. Via Chunnel, Van = 234 quid return, bike = 94! Mind you bike requires b&b, van doesn't so probably works out even. scratchchin

These are good suggestions thank you, could push the distance out a bit for the right place.

The Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy (about 4 hrs from Calais) - site of some of the D Day landings - wonderful beaches, plenty of bracing air and some history.

Equihen Plage? Not far from Calais, take the bike, and you could stay in one of these...

Honfleur is pretty but touristy. We generally go to the beach at Cabourg. Or you could go inland - Bayeux, Falaise, Suisse Normande. The last of these is a very beautiful region, with lots of outdoorsy things to do.
