Just had a mailshot email from Blowers with a list of watches for sale. At the top is a new unused 2017 Sea Dweller for £11,950! Is that what these cost now? Or is that a 'jump the queue we've got one in stock' premium price?

I thought Submariners were about £6K-ish these days and Sea Dwellers were a basically a slightly souped up Sub for 10% more...

Also saw a 1992 GMT II in the sold archives for £6,950! What would my 2007 GMTII (pre ceramic) be worth?

Think I might have to up the insurance (and stop wearing it for just knocking around in...)

Sea Dweller at £12k is almost a 50% markup on the RRP, but as you can't quickly get one down to how much you want one...

You'd probably get around £5,000 for your GMT II from a specialist pre-owned dealer

New SD is £8,350 and is completely new in terms of case, bracelet and movement.

That's interesting, it did seem a hell of a lot for a Sea Dweller.

Are the waiting lists really that long or is it all hype to try and sell watches?

Just over a year ago I was offered £3,400 for a freshly serviced GMT II with every single piece of paperwork including the original sales receipt, it was valued @ £6,000 for insurance purposes that same week.

They are that long and there's rumours that the red text will eventually be replaced by white. If that happens, the red will skyrocket. Rolex throttle stock availability to maintain price rises, exclusivity and support vintage values. They're playing a clever game!

It all depends which GMT you have.

A 2007 16710 (as mentioned in the OP) would yield more than 5k, I sold my 2004 GMTII for 3.5k back in 2011, 3.4k so was low bid if the watch is in good condition.

I don`t think it`s an "ordinary" one, they are annoying in their positioning of the hands but it looks a bit "rectangle" dial, but maybe not!

Armour Winstone`s price make it look like the right price, unfortunately pre ceramic prices bear no relation to ceramic prices, ceramic prices are only creeping up relative to new prices where as pre ceramic prices have ROCKETED and are more expensive now!

Not too sure what a 'rectangle dial' is, but surely if it were something that added value, they'd mention it?

You'd think so and I know they are COMPLETELY different bit Watchfinder NEVER do, they have a "stick dial" GMT that's about £2k more than the others but no mention of why

This is interesting. Having looked into it a little more, general consensus amongst those who reckon to know about these things is that neither stick nor Roman were particularly unusual and neither confer a premium.

Looking at Watchfinder, year and the presence or lack of box and papers seem to mostly set the value.

Sorry but that's not true (Roman is normal by the way, "stick and "rectangle" are the anomalies) not that I care because I don't have one!

There is also the possibilty that it may have a 3186 movement

Whether the extra is justified is a whole different matter!
