Hi everyone, this is my first readers cars post so go easy on me.

After owning many Hondas like VTEC CRX, EP3 Type R and S2000's I decided to make a jump to something slightly more exotic.
I came into a bit of cash and I decided to buy something a little different and something I could keep in the garage for quite a few years without the massive depreciation of normal production cars.

After always wanting an S2 Exige S for years I decided to go on the hunt to find a nice example.
After about 3 months of searching nothing came up and the ones that did were in excess of £32k so I decided to switch model and go for something newer but with a similar rarity factor.

I decided on an Elise 220 Cup as it it a hardtop specific model like the Exige (ok you can remove it).
I have now owned it for about 3 months and been to numerous Lotus events including drives and the car has really gripped my passion for driving. Although I only bought it to use at the weekends I'm finding myself wanting to drive it everyday as it's a really addictive drive when you are in it.
Ok so since the 220 Cup was released they have updated the power to 250 bhp but I find that 220 is plenty for the road.
I do plan to get it on track next year once once I'm fully happy that I'm comfortable with how it drives on the road.

Here are a few pics of the car.

That is stunning! Think my next car choice will be something more driver focused like this or caterham.

Thanks for the comments.

It does turn heads when driving it down the road.
The local kids around my area seemed to think it was a Lambo on the first day I turned up in it. If that's what sort of image it gives off then I'm happy with that. biggrin

Obviously had to correct them and their response was "what is a Lotus". biggrin

Cracking looking thing. I really do think Lotus have nailed the looks of the S3. It looks properly exotic.

Stunning car, but I must ask, what flooring do you have in your garage? It looks brilliant

Thanks

Thanks FELIX_5.

Cheers, the flooring was from Screwfix. Its great stuff and finishes of the garage nicely. Far better and easier than painting it.

A bit of tinkering on Saturday.
Had the Diffuser off to rotate the exhaust slightly and noticed I had a bit of heat escaping from the join. Going to sort it by adding some heat shielding to the top surface of the diffuser. Some cars came with it fitted and some didn’t so I’m replicating an official Lotus one using inconel heat shield sheet.

Also fitted my TRD airbox too. Pig of a job as it’s a tight squeeze in there.

As it was a nice day I decided to admire the colour on the sun too.

Car is still looking great! I may well find myself looking for one of these once I have had my fill with the old school Elan +2.

I like the ramps too, seem much safer to put the car on than my old metal ones, which don't have a smooth hill. I might have to look for some of them.

Hi Rich,

Thanks I try my best to keep her in good condition.

I did buy the ramps from Amazon but the don't seem to sell new on.e now.

Ebay has them new. They are a good price.
