Time to order a new car usually a relatively easy process but several boxes need ticking.
Mercedes C350e estate was the top choice as it covered all my companies restrictions with just do my 3 boys fit in.
Of we went to our local MB dealer greeted by a friendly lady on reception and she went off to get a sales person. Explained what I needed to check do 3 boys fit in a C class estate.
Sorry sir we don't have one but we do have an E class estate they are the same size!!! I explained I didn't think they are and asked do you have any used C class we can see for size. She starts playing with her laptop it says no. As we walk out I see 2 on the forecourt for sale...... How she meets target I don't know.
The answer to my quest, no my 3 boys don't fit, well they do but a long drive wouldn't be pleasant.
The problem now is finding a car that meets family duties, meets CO2 and falls within given budget.
I used to enjoy new car time.

If they are either young lads and need car seats or teens and need almost adult accommodations then there really isn't a RWD answer.
Rear middle seats are s
t, even in the big stuff. Small 7 seaters have crap 3rd row seats and big 7 seaters have s
te CO2 figures.
Generally.
Kia Sorento? New 5008? Merc ML?

Did you really need to go to a dealers to find out that 3 people don't fit that comfortably in the back of a small saloon?
Erm, didn't people have families of 5 back in the day and go out and about in Ford Sierras, which are smaller than the current C Class? It may be a relatively small saloon, compared to a S Class, but it's not really that small. ging84 said:

Given that I, as a gangly teenager, could sit in the back of a Sierra 30+ years ago with room to spare, it's a perfectly reasonable thing to do.What was he supposed to do, guess?
I have a c350e estate. It is a great car but I only have 1 child. The boot doesn't look much smaller but in practice the loss of depth makes a big difference when going on holiday etc. We tend to use a roof box for this reason. I'm sure space in the back will be fine if they are not teenagers.
MB dealers don't seem to be helpful if you turn up in announced. Try and book a test drive in one. My colleagues at work had massive issues trying to get a test drive in a c350e. Most borrowed mine for a few hours instead. Does anyone else at your work have one?

I was impressed by an S-Max taxi the other day. Cream leather, looked to have all the toys; obviously the dashboard looks crap like all Fords do but it was very spacious and comfortable. Given the choice I would take it over all the C and E class taxis I’ve ever had - I’ve always found the Merc estates very noisy at speed.
I don’t think I’ve ever been in a saloon or estate where the rear fits three in decent comfort so I imagine it’s MPVs or something like a new Disco with the 2.0 petrol or diesel.

I had a wasted journey to Audi Cheshire oaks to look at a Q3 the guy said was available but didn't exist, so I went over the road to Mercedes unnanounced and had a drive in the GLA they couldn't have been more helpful.MB dealers don't seem to be helpful if you turn up in announced.
