2015 LG55EG910v £500 - Should I?
Discussion
I've been offered a 2015 LG 55" curved OLED for £500. Apparently this TV retailed for around £1300 new a couple of years ago.
Not knowing enough about TV tech, would this be a better second hand purchase than a 2017 model something or another for £700 ish?
Would i be able to get similar tech now brand new for the price I'm being offered this older TV for?
Thanks in advance.

It retailed for £2100.
It is a 1080p OLED and at £500 is a bargain.
The closest you will get to it is LGs own 55B7v which retails at £2300 but can be had for around £1700 shopping around.
This is a 4k model, but is of course £1200 more.
The 910 version you have been offered usually sells for around £600ish second hand, so £500 is a good price.
I am still using the 930, which is the same panel, just a slightly faster operating system for the smart TV features. I have bought some other 4k LCD/LED displays since having this from Samsung and Sony but they still don't come close to OLED.
Throw some 4K HDR at the LCD displays and they look great, but for regular TV, even regular 4k, the 1080p OLED still looks a hell of a lot better.
Buy it now for £500, sell it in a year or two for £400 and buy a 4k OLED then for £600.
No brainer.

The TV you mention is an OLED, which makes it different to the more common, and cheaper, LED tech. Some people (Gizlaroc and myself included) are big fans. OLED's have fantastic contrast. Your eyes are great at picking this out, so OLED images have a real 'pop' and deepness to them. For that reason I'd go for the OLED, and agree with Gizlaroc...I'd take the OLED even if it were the same price as the new LED based TV.
