I have decided to buy a road bike I want to start racking up some mileage.
Used to be very into bikes many years ago racing nationally in DH and used to do some road riding as training.
I am way out of the loop with current brands and places to look, even in terms of looking for something second hand.
Probably want to spend max £1500/£2k and I reckon if I can get into the cycling it will lead to me giving a triathlon a go spring 2018.
Any help greatly appreciated.

With £2K there are a lot of options. If you are spending that amount of money its always good in my book to get a bike fit done first. If you want to rack up the miles and spend hours in the saddle then a proper fitting bike is really important. That way it will narrow down your search to bikes with the best geometry for you.
I have seen some tasty numbers in the sales. NRG cycles I noticed have some nice Cervelos with a decent chunk of cash off. Only in a few sizes but if they have yours then you'll be quids in

A proper bike fit, with advice to get the best aero-frame you can for your money. Worry less about groupset than wheels. If you have the right frame, you can upgrade everything else in stages, should you want to, and will be able to bolt on some aero-bars for a respectable TT rig too.
Another vote for second hand
There are some smashing bikes on ebay in the price range. If you drop on one in your size, Bob's your uncle
