Time for a new company car and I am undecided on the E Class and Jag XF.

I do not want other suggestions, A6, 5 Series, S90, 4series GC, Lexus GS, Arteon. Had a good look at them all and driven a few but it's down to the Jag or Merc.

E220. Positive - More refined, quicker and smother engine/ gearbox combo, nicer interior, better infotainment system. Negative - Can't get the Burmester Sound without £3K+ of options I don't want, not that much fun on a good a/b road, lots around.

Jag Positive - Handles really well and fun to drive, feels a bit more exclusive (less on the road), can get the option mix I want without having to pay for additional things, Looks better (IMO). Negative - Interior feels a bit cheap against the Merc, Engine sounds harsh and need working more, not as refined when sitting at 70 on the motorway.

So what would you pick and why?

It'd depend totally on what sort of driving I'd be using it for.

As you've said the E is most relaxing on the motorway yet the ZF handles better and is not so refined at 70. So it'd be the E if I was doing 30,000+ motorway miles per year but the XF if I wasn't.

Personally I'd pick the Jaguar due mainly to the abundance of Es on the roads. There's a lovely red metallic XF near to where I live, it looks great in the sunshine..

I have the xf as a company car and would not recommend it. Very problematic and a very harsh engine. Mine is a CC too but the dealer trips become annoying. I agree they look better than the E, especially as the E and C look so similar, rarer too but still very common now due to the low tax engines. For a more refined ride and less hassle I’d shoot for the Merc if it was my choice again.
