Is it just me, or do the clouds look yellow today? It's overcast here (Warwickshire), but the cloud cover definitely doesn't seem grey.

I've heard that it may have something to do with the hurricane that's coming in, or (and more worryingly) it may be the result of a little over-indulgence on my part yesterday evening.

I was just commenting to the guys in the office how weird the light is outside, almost a yellow twilight here in Dorset.

No overindulgence on your part - the skies here in Bristol are no different...

It actually looks like the skies used to look in Dubai when there was a sandstorm blowing in from the desert, I've heard that it's either the tail end of the hurricane or the forest fires in Portugal.

Not sure of the cause but there's a real metallic taste to the air as well - very odd!

As I understand it, the low pressure system bringing the remnants of Ophelia over Ireland has loads of dust from the Sahara in it.

It's red here in Shropshire. I believe it's sand dragged up from Spain and North Africa.

Pretty sure I saw a weather report over the weekend saying a load of Saharan dust was on the way which would account for it?. I'll try to dig it out.

Seems to be a lot of speculation that this is what is sometimes referenced as a hurricane sun. Namely high winds transporting dust up into the upper atmosphere, seems to be variances in the source of that dust dependant on where you read. Met office suggesting it may be dust from Sahara, so with the Met Office accuracy record who knows.

Same in Huddersfield, unseansonably warm and weirdly yellow, it's quite odd!
