Hiya Peeps,

Have just put me deposit down on an 05 Repsol Blade, due to me circa 22nd April. I would like to take this opportunity to high-light my outgoing cycle of which I am part exchanging. The Duke has been fantastic. In all fairness, it has not missed a beat in all 2 years of ownership. A great bike to learn, ride and perfect. Great linear drive, revvy, great noise, brakes. A place will remain in my heart for the bike after giving so much (for an unreliable Italian). Anyway, any of you owning Duke's out there, I shall be bunging a shed load of Ducati Performance kit on ebay soon so email me on james.paton@jwf.co.uk if you fancy heading me off at the pass. Anyone thinking of buying a post 2000 Ducati will not be disappointed! Go for it. The reason for the blade was simply because I cannot stand the look of the new Duke Superbike range. We all move on.

I shall be sad, but after seeing the Blade, I feel that the sadness will die down a bit on receipt of the new vehicle.

I just hope that I won't be disappointed not riding a twin.

Does indeed look a stunning bike.

I did something similar a few years ago...sold my 916 which i lurved...and bought a new R1. Wished i hadn't...i missed my Duke so badly. R1 was a good bike....just wasn't a Ducati

Official Repsol blade does look though.

Are there any 2004/5 Blade owners out there that can confirm what tyres are fitted as standard to these? I have been in the knowledge of Bridgestone BT014s. Funny as the Replica has Michelin transfers on the lower fairing panels!

Anna,

You got an aftermarket exhaust fitted to yours?

I have seen a really good Harris rear end tidy (suits you sir!) on the Harris website. Wouldn't mind seeing one in the flesh though.

Had a 916 for 4yrs+ until it was murdered by an old dear who couldn't see.
Bought a CBR1000rr last year,it's no duke (not alive) but I much prefer it to the GSXRthou that I had in between.
Got a full Akrapovic on it now & removed all the heatshields(OK heat wise so far),but I CANNOT get the removable baffle out(any ideas anyone?).Looks good, just doesn't sound the part yet.

My 2004 CBR 1000 RR had Diablo Corsas as standard, they are a good tyre I will be swapping the Dunlop D218's to Diablo Corsas on my new R1 as soon as the Dunlops are shot.....my Blade had an Akrapovic end can and PC and had 157 bhp at the wheel....had a few problems with the Blade hence the swap to an R1.....Repsol colours do look good though...enjoy the bike, it's very easy to ride very fast, and it's easier to ride than the R1.

I don't believe that they are doing any other colours for 2005. Bearing in mind that this is a factory rep, they may bring out a Movistar rep next year if Sete does the job!!

I was looking at slip-on cans for it and think that the Yoshi RS-5 can looks superb. I would also consider re-gearing the bike for lower end drive. Has anyone on here done this; if so can you recommend some sprocket sizes?

veetwin,

It sounds fantastic! I bought a Harris tail tidy thing at the bike show and fitted it. Wasn't impressed by the quality or the look, so sold it on ebay. My Blade does have Harris bobbins though! LOL

It's got a PCIII, properly mapped, Harris carbon hugger, bobbins, 42T rear sprocket and knackered tyres! Love it!

Off to Rhenculled tomorrow in Hinkley for further dyno work. Will be interesting to see the difference in bhp figures between the two dynos I'll have used.

Matt

BTW, how do you post pics in a thread, rather than having a link like I've got in my last post?

Use 'pic' rather than 'img'

It depends on the forum software as to what tags it responds to.

Nice pix tho'

pic doesn't work either! Doh! Still, never mind.

Dyno result from Friday was 153.4bhp at the back wheel. Not too shabby! Getting some bits and pieces done to the bike over the next week or so, and will post more pics later

Cheers

Hopefully pick up the new steed on Friday/Saturday this week.

I have a few questions, what is the blade like for pillion comfort? Bearing in mind the missus is used to the 748!! She was more than happy on that for up to 100miles without a break. I assume that the blade is slightly more roomy.

Also, I have a double bubble screen on the Duke which makes life more comfortable. Is this the case with the blade or does the standard screen offer enough protection?

Hi Matt, sorry but 153.4 is a bit shabby!!!!!

Hehehehe, can you post the dyno trace? I'll 'excel' yours, mine and Angus' as a graph, might be interesting to see who has better midrange because we're not always at 12K are we??

PS Good to see you on Sat!

Hi James

If you're out riding on Sat - give us a bell & pop in for a coffee & show the bike off...

I've got a new screen - not cos of wind but cos a black screen looks better!

As for pillion comfort - well you've bought the bike now - hardly time to be concerned about that!! sportsbikes aren't tourers full stop - she's never gonna be 'comfy' unless you get some wallowy old tourer!!! IMHO the more uncomfy the better - then you don't have to take anyone - - better still get a single seat conversion!
