Mitsubishi FTO Mivec - Any good?

These look superb value for a fun road/trackday car at the moment. Wondered what previous owners thought - anything I should look out for? What are the tiptronic boxes like? Comments opinions appreciated.

An ex had a GPX Mivec model with manual gearbox, approx 200bhp but felt very asthmatic, sounded good when the mivec kicked it and pretty comfortable place to be when driving, it is an engine out job (from memory) to change 3 of the 6 spark plugs though!

finding a non-rusty one these days will be challenging.

They're not that quick by modern standards, but very well put together...parts are very cheap and widely available for the most part.

Its not. Front bank nothing more than a spark socket, but back bank is manifold off.


OP, i had one and i though it was very good for its time. As quick as a R53 cooper S for reference. You will not be able to find a solid one though, its only dogs that are left.

Manual is the preferable choice if you can find one.

Front end is compatible with Evo 1/2/3 bits so suspension modifications are quite easily accessible.

Thanks for the info, for a bag of sand thought one would make an interesting alternative to a Clio 172 - high revving V6, coupe looks and better build quality for similar money.
