Recommendations - CBT / Therapist / Counsellor - Liverpool
Discussion
I've had some cracking recommendations in the past on here and I'm hoping someone can come up trumps for a friend who's going through a tough time at the moment.
He's starting having panic / anxiety attacks - GP has signed him off work and has started the process of going through the NHS system, but that's potentially an 8 week wait.
Can anyone recommend a good counsellor or therapist in or around Liverpool or the North West who he can see privately?
Cheers

You may want a qualified Psychologist, have a look at the BPS directory Psychologist http://www.bps.org.uk/psychology-public/find-psych...He's starting having panic / anxiety attacks - GP has signed him off work and has started the process of going through the NHS system, but that's potentially an 8 week wait.

Bps good call, here's the BACP find a therapist link http://www.itsgoodtotalk.org.uk/
If it's help through talking your friend wants then a therapist would be better than a psychologist. If it's deep down problems and analysis of such then better to go the psychologist route IMO - there's quite a bit of crossover though.

The biggest problem with counselling is it is not a quick treatment, and I appreciate your friend wants help now. As well as looking into counselling it might be worth looking for support groups or peer support for practical management of symptoms advice while the counsellor can look into underlying causes.
