I know nothing about what lease deals are out there........hopefully the PH massive will come through with some suggestions.

A friend is looking for a "small", Golf/A3/Focus sized car. Two or preferably four door.

She'd like something "stylish" and a bit sporty looking. She doesn't want diesel but would like good mileage from mostly London suburban trips.

She has NO no claim bonus of her own. So, she thought that an "all in", pay your monthly amount and drive away kind of deal would be the most suitable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm not aware of any lease deals that include insurance. Peugeot do something called "just add fuel" on their PCP deals, which includes insurance, which might be the kind of thing you're after perhaps?

Yes that kind of thing. Ad I said I'm not up with these kind of deals. I had assumed Peugeot's offerings was a "lease"

I don't know the full details, but I believe that the Peugeot deal is a lease, on the basis that the small print says that you will not own the vehicel at the end of the term, therefore precluding it being a PCP.

Thank you.

thumbup

Anything else interesting around at £350? Not necessarily insurance included as she may be able to get some extra funds for insurance.

Citroen/DS do their Simplydrive scheme which covers insurance too just like the Peugeot deal and works in a similar fashion. A DS3 or Citroen Cactus Puretech would fit the bill on the scheme.

She likes the BMW 1 series or Mercedes A class. Can anyone point her towards something by them?

Leon Cupra 300 @ £259 a month (1+23)? (IMG Warrington Seat, although other Seat dealers may match).
Sporty, ok-ish on fuel.

Depends what the insurance would be of course.

you need to look on this thread for lease deals (not including insurance)

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Also this is a good place to compare deals:

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/personal/ca...

and special offers here:

https://centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/special-offe...

but £350 is a huge amount for a lease car - you can get a good car from £100 pcm (depending on mileage) leaving plenty over to get insurance.

I am looking at £330 a month for an S4!

I'm sure it's been done to death but I still just don't get it!

I actually want to lease a car.........but it just doesn't work. Anything decent is very expensive to lease.

Someone please help me understand why it isn't just pay all the depreciation of the car and get nothing at the end?

A good lease deal should give you this, and in a typical year there are plenty of deals which would work out better than this, especially if you factor in that the lease will normally include things like road fund licence that you'd otherwise have to pay yourself.

but, without being rude...........it seems only for shopping cars? Anything nice - seems to be twelvty million quid a month plus a big deposit..........?

by nice I don't mean Italian Supercar............even things like a Discovery

I can't quite get it. I must be wrong, because loads of people do it.

I looked at an Abarth Spider thing - it was way cheaper to buy it than lease...........

Especially if you factor in getting one a year old............still immaculate.

My friend just bought a year old Fiat 500 (and was originally trying to get a lease)

The difference in numbers made the lease deal totally un'doable.

I can't remember exactly what they were - but she is early hundreds per month, with zero deposit, the car was over 5k less than a new one, under a year old, with 7k miles on it.

I' had a really good look around it..............so for her 5k saving she has 2 stone chips in bonnet, a little mark on roof lining and 7k on the clock

There have been some very good deals on desirable cars, but the deals aren't available every day of the year. At the moment, a 2 year lead on an Audi S4 is around £10k. My wife has a mk 7.5 Golf GTi, that was £5700 for 2 years. Of the cars you mention, this year there have been really good deals on the Fiat 500 Abarth, and similar to the Fiat Spyder, Mazda MX5.

PCPs though are a different matter, these often do work out more than buying the car outright.

Because the best lease deals are where you pay less than the depreciation would have been had you paid cash.

ok.......on anything good? So it only works if you want a brand new car and are happy to lose the VAT and Depreciation over a couple of years.

It can be cheaper than a used car too. You'd expect a used car to depreciate less than a new one, but equally your new car will have all new parts, tyres, comprehensive warranty, normally breakdown cover, etc.... whereas your used car will probably throw up more bills. Factor all these things together and the lease '"may" still win.
