Hi,

Just a query, if you give you car to a reputable TVR garage on the basis they sell it on your behalf with their mark up added on and they sell it.

How long would you expect it take to receive you balance? Has any body had any difficulties getting paid?

Pete

I would expect payment once cleared funds have been received.

Thanks for the reply,

I would of thought the same, but its coming up 2 weeks this Friday, bank details passed over Monday but still nothing.

Probably concerned for no reason but getting a little miffed that somebody is driving around in a car I still legally own even though the garage in question signed the v5 in my name.

Naughty, have you enquired as to the timeframe to expect funds transfered?

Hi

Was told Monday a nominal amount would be transferred today and the balance once confirmed nominal amount received but nothing.

Probably been a bit too relaxed about the whole sale due to high work loads and as I have never sold a car this way before thought it was normal to wait to be contacted for payment.

Let's face the truth, there is no excuse, it could all be done on the same day if people pull their finger out.

They are probably using your cash to ease their cash flow problems and are waiting for other money to come in before they pay you.

I would get down there and insist on it being done right there and then, no messing about.

If they refuse to do this, you know where you stand!

I agree with Peter. At most an electronic transfer takes 3-days to arrive but a small amount should be instant.

Time to check the details it was sent to. Then resend. 10-minutes work. Time for the Specialist to focus on the OP for a while.

I sold a Chimp a couple of years ago with TrackvRoad. I had the money transferred as soon as the buyer paid. I think it was around a week after he put deposit down.

I'd direct the Specialist to this thread.

Are you on Facebook? No 'name and shame' rules on there. Plenty of TVR specific groups/pages to post their details on.

Having seen this in the trade before there can be a problem sometimes when your car is sold against a trade in, therefore the dealer has not received all the money your car fetched and that you now expect, hope it works out soon for you.

Sadly you probably don't legally own the car, the chap who paid and bought it off the garage does. I say this because I guess you didn't put a caveat in the contract that the vehicle remains your property until full funds have cleared? Instead “legally” you instructed the garage to sell the car. Which they have done for you. You just haven't been paid for it.

If a garage has cash flow problems like this, they shouldn't be trading cars then.

If you’re going to do sale or return sales, do it with garages that can afford to buy cars. Ask to be paid in full when the dealer gets the deposit, not later when the transaction is completed. I hope this gets sorted asap.

Folks,

An update,

Thanks for all the replies, made a detour and went in today the owner was a little surprised that it hadn't been paid.

Rectified within 4 hours, so all ends well.

This should be a bookmark type post.. if someone sells my car, on my behalf, what payment terms should apply?

Glad it worked out for the OP but shouldn’t need to be discussed after the car has gone over the horizon!

I would not enter into this type of arrangement seen it before dealer sells car slow paying owner and goes bust before paying you have lost your car and your money this is what happened when Team Central went bust
