Guys

I have an MX5 that has been turbo'd which makes a good car great. The standard MX5 engine and drive train can handle up to around 250bhp / 12 psi and there is enough space in the engine bay and bumper to support a turbo / supercharger, plumbing and intercooler. The only real tricky bit is installing an ECU but because so many have been converted there is lots of information available for this.

Also appears you can easily swap a M52B28 engine into smaller engine'd E36's.

Are there any other NA cars that can be relatively easily FI'd / tuned / have engine swap?

Clio 1*2/197/200 are getting the Megane turbo engine dropped into them quite frequently now. You have to notch the chassis on the 1*2 but on the later cars it’s a straight fit.

Depends I mean you would have to upgrade nearly every component. A mx5 with a v8 is done in the USA.

Not hugely large, but an original mini with an integrated type R engine dropped in must surely rank up there in the fun scales.

Why swap or turbo/SC, why not both?

Common in Lotus circles is to replace the K-Series in the Elise/Exige S1/S2 with a K20 Honda engine taking you from 135 to ~200bhp, you can then supercharge the K20 to 300+ without too much issue and you're still below 900kg's!

That sounds insane, in a good way biggrin

I believe the N/A Monaro/VXR8 responds well to a supercharger, as does the Hemi-engined Chrysler 300C.

I had a Golf R32 supercharged and it's a fairly popular base for big-bhp... although it misbehaved for the next owner and threw up a large bill (supposedly due to poor quality, but right octane fuel).
