had a bit of a change of plan, was originally looking for something I could tow with but I've decided it's better to just bother putting an MOT on my track car and drive it to and from places...

Now my criteria for a 'road car' are now different. I've been driving a Corsa for the last 18 months while going through a divorce and the settlement means I have about 10 or 11 grand spare for something as a treat to myself.

I've had reasonably quick stuff before and fancy that again, I just can't decide what to buy.

I don't want a convertible, I'd prefer something which wasn't tiny (I've considered a Clio 197/200 for example but it'll be awful on a journey of any length)

Other than that, I'm pretty flexible, just indecisive!

BMW 335i? Pretty nippy, and the 3 series has always been a good "do everything" car.

yeah it's on the list, I've had 2 E90s before though, that's the only thing putting me off (although they were both diesels and neither went wrong ever)

So far, I've 'considered';

335i
135i
Megane 250/265
Audi S3
Golf R32
Impreza WRX STI hatch

I've also thought about some bigger stuff like an E55 AMG but I don't think I'm quite that brave

definitely not an S2000, don't want a convertible.

I thought about a DC5 but it's a bit 'track car' and I've already got a 182 for that, don't need another car I'd end up spending a billion pounds on like I have with the Clio laugh

Might give one a drive though, have always liked them, just need to make sure I have the willpower to keep it standard!

ah thats fair enough re. the dc5. I went for one over an s2000 as i owned an mx5 for 5 years, and am thoroughly over convertibles!

There is a fair incentive to keep a dc5 standard, they perform so well out of the box...also the standard ones hold a lot of value.

Evo? That's the only car i'm really considering as a step up from the DC5 eventually, when i need a 4 door practical car.

Impreza STI would be my choice at that price I think.

E46 M3 possibly, should get a decent one with that budget
