Tried to do this on a '04 Yaris but the wheel bearing was rusted into the axle so could not get it out even after bashing from behind and attaching the wheel for extra leverage.

On this video he uses a wedge tool - what is it called so I can buy one?

Or are they any other ways of loosening the bearing?

That looks very similar to a fork type separator, although the ones I've seen have been designed for separating ball joints and this looks a lot bigger. . I suspect that 'pickle fork' or 'fork separator' are the terms you should be looking for.

he's using a ball joint separator, you can use similar or a slide hammer which would be less likely to damage something. you used to be able to hire them in HSS moons ago

You can get the fork type ball joint separators from motor factors, Halfords etc. This link is Screwfix:

Looks like he's using it as a wedge for leverage on the assembly he's removing.
The forks aren't wide enough to fit either side of it.
It's had a bit of hitting beforehand which started it moving - what you see when he's hitting it with the lump hammer.
I'd continue hitting it with the lump hammer from different angles to try & get it rocking.

Or a length of steel bar with a couple of holes drilled to fit over the wheel studs & then held on with nuts. Will give greater leverage - just be careful not to pull the car off the stands! Heat could be your friend but I'd suggest you'd need something on the lines of gas welding gear to concentrate the heat.

Are you sure you've removed all fasteners?
