Probably 3 or 4 256GB plus`s - we can lease from PC World or get credit but interested in actual decent companies to get them from.

Just buy 'em and get a SIM only contract x 4. Over two years it will be miles cheaper, even if you have to borrow the money.

Contract phones are such a rip...

I got a reasonable deal on one from A1Connect (an EE reseller) a few months ago. Cheaper than EE direct - not sure if they’d do better for multiple

I’m not as sure as the previous poster you’re better “buying” (financing) them over just getting some phone contracts.

Exactly this. Buy sim only phones from wherever you can find them cheapest. Amazon, John Lewis etc or even secondhand from CEX or similar. Just ensure you get a good cash subsidy with your sim only contracts.

Yep. I'm paying £9 a month for Unlimited minutes, texts, and 2GB of data. "Loyalty" discount.

I'm on WiFi most of the time so I don't need lots of data. If I did need lots I'd pay around £20 a month for it. Once you have the phone you can shop around for someone who wants your business...I'm currently on EE but 3 are doing pretty good deals.

I read somewhere that only Apple themselves and John Lewis provide unlocked phones.
iPhones from other vendors either come locked or lock themselves to the first network they attach to.

I have no personal experience but you should check as this may affect your ability to change vendor or put in a different SIM when travelling.

I got two iPhone 7 Plus from BusinessMobiles.com.

Matched the same rate that EE we’re offering at the time, but halved the upfront cost of the phones!

John Lewis offer a 2 year guarantee which, in my experience of iPhones, you will be needing. Costco are worth a look too and seem to be pretty good with problems/returns.

Good blog post here about locked Apple's. Short version is that locked to first sim used to be an issue but isn't anymore:

Just renewed my six O2 phones.

The conversation went like this

First line "what can you do for me ?"

Second line " Put me through to retentions please"

Result:
Sim only with 20gb & unlimited talk & text £15.50 +VAT
Sim only with 2gb & unlimited talk & text £7.75 + VAT
12 month contracts

Someone somewhere is bound to have a better deal, but I'm happy, I'll buy the phones as & when we need them and actually have assets to add onto the balance sheet. Selling the old ones will cover nearly all the years rental.

I spoke to the Apple shop who said they like business account, will do trade ins and also offer vouchers for discounts on other hardware

I think you have quite a good deal there. I am switching our company phones over to a Sim only arrangement and so I spoke with the provider of our landlines/internet and their offer, which at the time I thought was competitive, was as follows;

Unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 3gb of 4g data. £12.99 / month / sim + vat on Vodafone.

So your deal is probably a few pounds cheaper per SIM per month than my offer.

Please let us know how you get on with a warranty issue on your Samsung at a retailer you didn't buy it from.

He would be fine. Buy a Samsung at Carphone Warehouse for example and you can walk into any Samsung store or support centre to get it repaired under its 2 year warranty.
