Hi Guys

I have just discovered Piston Heads - what a great forum, much better than the Porsche Club GB version !

Looking at some past GT2 threads there seems to be a great deal of discussion on the pros and cons.

One possible answer is a modified 996TT with a GT2 body kit. You get the performance of a GT2 with the safety of the TT's 4WD and traction control. It worked for me ! My car looks like a GT2 but is a 996 TT.

What do people think ?

Good idea. The GT2 is better looking than the turbo.

Can I be nosey and ask how much it cost to get the spoilers and prep them? Were Porsche willing to supply you without a GT2 chassis number?

Have you uprated the suspension in any way? (I've read that the GT2 set up is very different to the turbo one.)

Welcome to the site BTW.

I bought the car with the work already done. It appears to have cost around £8,000. The previous owner clearly caught the modifying bug as he had a lot of work done to the car by PSI:

Brakes:
355mm Front brake kit (steering knuckle, bearings, disks, brake pads, metal hoses, hoses, AP600 fluid)

Suspension:
H&R adjustable sports suspension

Engine:
• Reprogramming the Motronic ECU-241 electronic accelerator unit• Sports air filter • Sports clutch
• Stainless steel sports exhaust and catalytic converter, with original outlets• 2 KKK 24 Turbo
• 1 Fuel pressure regulator

I think that a 996 Turbo with GT2 wings on is a great idea. I have to admit, the GT2 does look better than a Turbo. And I know that the GT2 wings would probably make for a lower top speed, but this is academic.

You have also done the same trick as me......bought an already modified Porsche, thus avoiding spending money on the mods yourself. Good move.
