As this guy deliberately drove at children, I consider his offence more serious than the guy who got four years in another story today, yet this guy only got six months.

If this is the guy I heard about recently, (before the court case), he had been subjected to constant abuse for quite a long time before he lost it from this gang of "kids" (arrogant scrotes who know all too well that the law cannot or will not do anything to control their behaviour) !!!

Makes his action a little more understandable?!?

(Bit extreme though!)

"The 27-year-old man repeatedly drove his car at the group of children along a footpath. He then hit a steel fence before driving towards them again"

Looks like a real need for a re-test.....

There is a trend amongst the young to dart out in front of cars in urban side streets at the last possible moment causing the driver to perform an emergency stop. This is then normally followed by abusive and even threatening behaviour.
Another fun past-time is to walk slowly around in the road and deliberately stop in the middle so that cars are unable to pass, cue abuse and threatening behaviour.
I have found that driving driectly at them in an aggressive accelerative manner causes them to move before their deformed sense of entertainment inhibits them. I have also considered what winging one of them would do for their sense of road safety.
Perhaps l ought to bang myself up....

When I worked in Wythenshawe (huge, grim council estate on the edge of Manchester), we were warned about kids operating in pairs. One lies down in the middle of the road, pretending to have been hit by a car, concerned motorist stops to help, second kid jumps into car and away he goes with it. Even if you collar the first kid, he's inevitably under the age of criminal responsibility, so nothing you can (legally) do. Sadly I never came across any of the b*ggers doing this - foot to the floor and last-minute swerve to run over his fingers would've been both fun for me and educational for him

Is this an instruction/serving suggestion?

A bit like 'Remember - children can choke on nuts'

Peachy.

This happened near to my parents' place a good few years ago - the victim stumbled to their door to beg an ambulance as he'd been on the receiving end of a nasty head-but during the scam.
BiB that attended gave the following advice: "Drive around the body in the road, find a phone box and call an ambulance". Seems heartless, but for saftey's sake it makes sense.

This isn't new though - there were kids doing this when I was a kid (ie 20 years ago..)..

most people are annoyed when someone who has done something really bad gets a short sentance but i think its worth remembering that prison isnt that nice and loads of bad things will happen to a guy that deliberately drove at kids. i'm quite sure that this guy will be introduced to mr sock and his friend the batteries.........

Bloody hell? the guy is clearly a cyclepath (feeling a bit thick today, can't spall). The guy surely needs locking up, and the key feeding to Thrust.

Forgawdsake, if he'd tagged one of the little perrishers, wouldn't he have gone down for premeditated murder, or at the very least man-slaughter?

Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way deffending the little turds that drove him to these indefencible actions, but this is not the behaviour of someone firing on all eight cylinders...up top!

worked there too (at a large bank's call center) and they also would stop a car then one would open the boot and pass anything they found on to another kid on a bike, again nothing you can do.

Damned right

All adds fuel to the fire of my argument in favour of involuntary birth control for people who don't pass some basic tests. And termination of the fruit of any unlicensed reproduction.

:edit: I used to work round Wivvy - at the Airport, used to go home past the Concorde Business Park (Clueless & Witless etc..)... Driving at scum used to provided a splendid vent for the symptoms of a bad day at work..

It certainly would be followed by abusive and threatening behaviour if any one did that to me - they probably wouldn't be able to hear me though :runoverchildreninroadwithmanshoutingatthemsmilie:

We have a test for teachers and support staff - why not apply that to everyone once they are capable of breeding.......

Ooooh overtones of Nazi-ism.... Nope, can't go down that route I'm afraid. Let nature take its course and kill em when they break into your house and run em over if they get in front of you on the road.....
